Frequently Asked Questions
Here is a list of Frequently Asked Questions About Self-Publishing.
Learning how to self-publish a book and getting your ideas into the world is easier, but you still need to have a guide through the world of self-publishing to avoid costly mistakes that could cost you future royalties.
Self-publishing is the process of publishing a book without the involvement of a traditional publishing company. Authors retain full control over the content and distribution of their work. This means that you cover all the costs of the process, but you will also retain all the royalties.
We offer a range of services, including editing, formatting, cover design, marketing, and printing. We can also provide advice and guidance during the self-publishing process.
The cost of self-publishing depends on which services you need as well as the size of your manuscript (number of words in your book). We offer custom packages that can be tailored to your specific needs and budget.
This again varies on the size of the book. But budget for at least six weeks. However if you have to do rewrites of certain chapters based on the editor’s recommendations from your manuscript, this can take longer.
While it is not required to have your manuscript fully edited before submitting it for publishing, we do recommend having it professionally edited to ensure the best reader’s experience. We offer editing services, but you can use your own preferred editor. However, the book must be fully edited before we start to format the book to prevent additional costs.
We specialise in distribution through Amazon’s online bookstore. But you can also request Barnes & Noble, and Apple Books, as well as distribution through our partners.
The time it takes to self-publish a book varies depending on the services you require and the complexity of your project. We aim to provide a timely and efficient service to ensure your book is published as quickly as possible.
Yes, as a self-published author, you retain full ownership and control of your work. Your royalties will be paid directly from the company who sells your book to you.
Yes, you can make changes to your book after it has been published, but you will need to republish it with the updated content. This will also incur additional costs.
Yes, we offer both ebook and print publishing services, so you can choose the formats that work best for you and your readers.
Good cover design is critical. When you buy a new book, you always look at the packaging. Your book cover is its cover, a guide that the reader uses to decide if they want to buy your book. You only have a second or two for the reader to decide to take a closer look or move on to the next author’s book.

Testimonials

David Sand
Kim is such a professional and has coached and helped me publish my book Song of the Sandman. Her deep knowledge of the Amazon book publishing platform helped me rank immediately and her speaking skills were invaluable at my 1st public book launch. I can highly recommend her to anyone in the world who has a passion to publish. She works virtually or in person and has an amazing course and books of her own. Keep winning Kim

I first met Kim when I struggled to get payments registered for Amazon Kindle, and she sorted it all out with great urgency. Since then, we have had a continued relationship, and I place great value Kim's advice and knowledge. We also recently attended Kim's workshop on Book Formatting in which not only did we find the content fantastic, but also left very motivated to finish books that I'd started but not finished. Kim has created a nice balance between positive and inspiring support, and being just pushy enough to ensure that commitments are kept. I have no hesitation recommending Kim to any author, whether you are writing fiction or non-fiction.
Do you dream of touching the hearts and minds of other with your stories?
Do you dream of touching the hearts and minds of other with your stories?
Whether you are a fiction or non-fiction author, you have the power to transform people’s lives. But that will not happen unless you are willing to do what it takes to get that book in front of as many people as possible.
The good news is that you have taken the first step. That’s why you are here.
The bad news is that writing a book is not like winning the lotto. Very few people get that elusive big book contract. Statistics show 70% of lottery winners end up broke and a third go on to declare bankruptcy. Why is that? Because they have not developed the skills to maintain and build their wealth.
What does that have to do with authors? A lot. If you are not willing to learn the skills and take action to build your book business, then you will fall into the statistics of those on Amazon that only ever sell 200 books in their entire lifetime.
But if you are willing to learn and take action… regular, disciplined action to build your business, then you can be one of the discipled few who can many a living from their books.
Give your self permission to dream big and take action.

Author, Book Store Owner, Coach and Marketer
I have been an entrepreneur for over 20 years and in that time; I have helped hundreds of brand managers, event coordinators, and entrepreneurs build their brands. I loved what I did. I won a Regional business award, was featured in Cosmopolitan and Destiny Magazine and I was the vice chair for the Johannesburg Business Women’s Association. But after I turned 40, I realized that every victory was fleeting. I was only as good as my last deal. I wanted to create something meaningful. To leave a legacy. I realised that books could do that. Not only could they transform people’s thinking one book at a time, but I could get real passive income from a catalogue of books. And I could make sure that my children benefitted from my royalties long after I am gone. But as an entrepreneur, I realised that I was going to have to build my brand. I would have to commit. I learned everything I could, spent years preparing and learning the hard way. I realised my best successes came when I followed a system and had an accountability partner.
